"The Beauty of Baptism" (note: click the arrow to re-watch the teaching video for this message)

Day 1: The Heart of Salvation

Reading: Romans 10:9-13

Devotional: Today we reflect on the essence of salvation. The pastor emphasized that water baptism doesn't save us - it's our faith in Christ that does. Just as the thief on the cross was saved by his faith alone, we too are saved when we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord.

  • Take a moment to examine your own faith journey. Have you truly opened the door of your heart to Jesus?

  • Remember, He stands at the door and knocks, waiting for us to invite Him in. Today, reaffirm your faith or, if you haven't yet, consider inviting Christ into your life. Salvation isn't about religious rituals, but about a personal relationship with Jesus.

Day 2: United with Christ

Reading: Romans 6:1-11

Devotional: Today's passage beautifully illustrates the concept of being united with Christ through baptism. Just as a cloth dipped in dye is forever changed, or a cucumber becomes a pickle, we are fundamentally transformed when we are baptized into Christ. This isn't about water baptism, but about the spiritual reality it represents. When we accept Christ, we die to our old selves and are raised to new life in Him.

  • Reflect on how your life has changed since coming to faith.

  • In what ways are you still struggling with your "old self"?

  • Remember, sin no longer has power over you - you are free to walk in newness of life.

  • Ask God to help you live out this truth today.

Day 3: The Indwelling Christ

Reading: Galatians 2:20, Colossians 1:27

Devotional: One of the most profound truths of Christianity is that Christ lives in us. The pastor described it as being "soaked" in Christ, like a cup submerged in water. This indwelling presence is the source of our new life and power.

  • Today, meditate on what it means to have Christ living in you.

  • How does this truth change the way you view yourself and your daily challenges?

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to make you more aware of Christ's presence within you throughout the day.

  • Let this awareness guide your actions and decisions, knowing that you carry the hope of glory within you.

Day 4: Freedom from Sin's Power

Reading: Romans 8:1-11

Devotional: Today we focus on the liberating truth that in Christ, we are no longer slaves to sin. The pastor emphasized that while Christians still struggle with sin, it no longer has control over us. This freedom comes not from our own efforts, but from our union with Christ in His death and resurrection.

  • Reflect on areas in your life where you still feel bound by sin.

  • Remember, you have been set free! Ask God to help you live in the reality of this freedom.

  • Choose one area where you struggle and consciously surrender it to Christ today, trusting in His power to overcome.

Day 5: God's Persistent Love

Reading: Revelation 3:20, Luke 15:1-7

Devotional: Our final day focuses on God's relentless pursuit of us. The pastor described how God has been knocking on the door of our hearts throughout our lives, using various experiences to get our attention. This echoes Jesus' words in Revelation and His parable of the lost sheep. No matter how far we've strayed, God never stops seeking us.

  • Today, reflect on the ways God has pursued you throughout your life.

  • Can you identify moments where He was "knocking" that you might have missed before?

  • Thank Him for His persistent love.

  • If you feel far from God, remember that He is always ready to welcome you back.

  • Take a step towards Him today, knowing He's eagerly waiting to embrace you.
