"FREEDOM! DEAD in Adam, ALIVE in Jesus" Part 1 (note: click the arrow to re-watch the teaching video for this message)

Day 1: From Death to Life

Reading: Romans 5:12-21

Devotional: As we reflect on Paul's words, we're confronted with the stark reality of sin's entrance into the world through Adam. Yet, in this passage, we also encounter the overwhelming grace of God through Jesus Christ.

  • Today, consider the contrast between the "death" brought by Adam and the "life" offered by Jesus.

  • How has God's grace transformed your life?

  • In what areas do you still need to fully embrace the "much more" that Christ offers?

  • Take time to thank God for His abundant grace and ask Him to help you live fully in the freedom and life He provides.

Day 2: Choosing Our Leader

Reading: Joshua 24:14-15, Romans 6:1-14

Devotional: Joshua challenged the Israelites to choose whom they would serve. Similarly, Paul presents us with a choice between being "in Adam" or "in Christ." Today, reflect on the choices you make daily.

  • Are your decisions aligning you more with Adam's legacy of sin or with Christ's gift of righteousness?

  • Consider areas where you might be holding onto old patterns of thinking or behavior.

  • Ask God to strengthen your resolve to choose Him in every aspect of your life, embracing the new identity He offers in Christ.

Day 3: The Gift of Grace

Reading: Ephesians 2:1-10

Devotional: Paul emphasizes the free gift of God's grace throughout Romans 5. This theme echoes in Ephesians, where we're reminded that salvation is entirely a gift, not something we can earn. Today, meditate on the nature of God's grace.

  • How does understanding grace as a gift change your perspective on your relationship with God?

  • Are there ways you've been trying to earn God's favor rather than receiving it freely?

  • Take time to simply rest in God's unconditional love and acceptance, allowing His grace to transform you from the inside out.

Day 4: Reigning in Life

Reading: Romans 5:17, Revelation 22:1-5

Devotional: Paul speaks of those who receive God's grace "reigning in life." This concept finds its ultimate fulfillment in Revelation's picture of believers reigning with Christ for eternity. Today, consider what it means to "reign in life" right now.

  • How can you exercise the authority Christ has given you over sin, fear, and circumstances?

  • In what areas of your life do you need to more fully embrace your identity as a child of the King?

  • Ask God to help you walk in the fullness of the life He's given you, impacting your world with His love and power.

Day 5: Hope in Suffering

Reading: Romans 5:1-5, 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Devotional: While Romans 5 primarily contrasts Adam and Christ, it begins by addressing the reality of suffering in the Christian life. Paul reminds us that even our trials can produce hope. Today, reflect on the challenges you're facing.

  • How might God be using these difficulties to shape your character and deepen your hope?

  • Consider how the "much more" of God's grace can sustain and transform you even in your darkest moments.

  • Ask God to give you His perspective on your trials and to fill you with a hope that transcends your circumstances.
